Hyphenated is for people 13 and older. Here’s how we protect younger users, and what parents should know.
Protections for accounts under 18
- Accounts start private. Only followers the teen approves can see their videos. Accounts for people under 16 always stay private.
- Accounts under 16 don’t appear in search.
- Only approved followers can comment on a teen’s videos.
- Nobody can duet a teen’s videos.
- Teens can’t host LIVEs. Hosting unlocks at 18.
- There are no direct messages on Hyphenated.
- A daily screen-time reminder is on by default (60 minutes) and can be changed in Settings.
Under 13
People under 13 can’t create an account. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email [support email] and we’ll remove it.
Tools for everyone
- Private account, comment and duet controls per video, blocking, and reporting on every video, comment, account and LIVE.
- Data saver mode and download/delete your data in Settings.
